You know, this weekend at D-Now was pretty incredible! I had the chance to connect with over 100 students from Detour- and it was so encouraging to see all of you enegized, pumped, and ready to worship throughout the weekend.  Yesterday the Detour Staff took a day of rest to just reflect on what God had done over the course of the weekend and contemplate on new ideas for Detour.  Resting is wonderful- and I don’t get it much so when I am ASKED to take a day off for rest I’m not complaining.  Anyway, yesterday I spent the majority of the morning praying and praising God for all that He had, has been, and continues to give me on a daily basis.  It’s been one of those weeks where you read your bible, pray, and then jump head first into your day- ITS BEEN THAT BUSY PREPARING FOR THIS PAST WEEKEND.  I feel like I hadn’t have a lot of time to connect with God.  But yesterday was refreshing and I knew that I had needed it.  So, I was reading some scripture- meditating on it and really trying to bring it home after all that I had heard Chad speak on this weekend- it says:

Matthew 11:28-30 says: ” Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

I have a tendency to think that I will burden someone if I share with them what’s going on in the deepest depths of my heart and life- It’s a notion I have struggled with and I am sure many of you do too…but somehow I seem to think that If I unload all of my junk that I am dealing with on anyone, that it will be too much.  Obviously Jesus wants us to rely on him- not on ourselves….or other people, but rather He desires for us to bring in our burdens, afterall, that is what He died for.  Sometimes I need to be reminded of this….I mean it seems so simple, but its easy to let everything overwhelm you and get sidetracked in to thinking that even Christ can’t handle your JUNK- DON’T BE MISTAKEN. He can handle it all….and just like He says, He wants you to drop the burdens, the stress, the heavy load that sin can leave you with, for a lighter life of joy that can’t be taken away by any circumstance.
